• Re: MC2020.4 MOV export Timecode issue

Now on Win 10 1909, MC 2020.6. Timecode in a UME MOV export is still not right. Maybe no one else uses QuickTime Player or any ffmpeg apps with MC MOV exports but I still think timecode has problems.

  • Re: H264 Options in Media Composer 20.4

An expert for h.264 I an not! I do know that when I use ffmpeg the default is using a quality method that is variable bit rate. I see very accepticle video for screeners out of Avid VBR at 3 - 6 Mbps for 960x540 size, or even lower br. Again, up to your clients needs.

If you can, try an update to 2020.6. You can now scale the export. We often send HD1080 screeners at 960x540 so that's good. If you select Compression: H.264 you can then select Encode Mode: Variable Bit Rate Single Pass, then choose your Target bit rate and Max bit rate to suit your needs. On my machine the UME encode runs 3.x faster than the old

  • Re: Converting a DNx Mov to a pre-UME version on Mojave.

I think for MacOS Mojave you can install the 32bit extra's download from Avid giving QuickTime support. How about doing a mixdown to your required DNx and exporting Same As Source. The What's New for 2020 does say that MOV DNx exports using UME will use the new codec. Maybe SAS won't. This might be a temporary fix until your clients and
No error but no sign of the ANW1501_06_Denouement linked clip So I suspect MC is seeing something in the metadata that makes it think they are the same source file. But not sure what.
It's the UMID. They are the same in these two files. With Linked Media Management off and neither of the files linked

  • Re: Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

If you have MediaInfo, take a look at these two files. The UMID is the same. Avid uses this as a unique file id so it is very confused about these two files. Try deleting the two links. Go to Settings > User > Link > Volume Mounting and uncheck Enable Linked Media Management. You have to close and reopen MC. Alt Drag just Blackened and you
Mixdown the timeline to a flat Audio and video track in the desired output resolution. Do a SAS export (very quick)
I feel like the SAS export is part of legacy QuickTime and will also be gone in the future. Am I wrong about that? I don't see anything like it in the new Options... > MOV export.
Greetings. Got 2020.4 loaded. Quicktime Reference Export is no longer an option.
If you really still want to use it, it is still available. "QuickTime Reference" is the second option from the top in Options... > Export As:. Seems best to look for a new workflow as Avid has said that legacy

  • MC2020.4 MOV export Timecode issue

On Win 10 1903. Have been looking forward to trying the ProRes on Windows. From a 1080p23.976 project I did a MOV ProRes LT Export with 6 audio tracks and a Data Track with Captions. My first goto is still Quicktime because it will show Timecode and Captions. My Avid timeline starts at 01:00:00:00. QT displays 3600 where the timecode would normally

  • Re: DNxHD 90 files linked as Avid DNx Codec rather than DNxHD 90

The Avid Console often shows what it doesn't like about the file. Doesn't do you much good though...
