  • Re: Avid NAB 2014

It may be just me but I don't think Avid was shy about what 8.0 was going to be. All it is ever was is an update to the way it delivers the media composer software. It's a setup that will allow them to push out more updates instead of having to wait for .1 and other incremental updates. This is a good thing I think. Now could they have made

  • Re: F5 AMA Problems 6.5.3

Outdate SR AMA Codec seems to be the culprit. Thanks for steering me in that direction!

Sorry about that. Updated to show my work system. Doubt they will upgrade us yet, we're at a big facility and it's all or nothing with them. Looking into the SONY plugins now... Thanks a bunch

  • F5 AMA Problems 6.5.3

Hey everyone I've got a weird issue I'm running into with some footage originating from a Sony F5, it's all some form of the SR codec. When I AMA the footage into the Avid there is metadata in the TAPE column the Source File Column and The Source Path column. Now usually I'm only expecting Source File and Source Path with File based

" Important v7/v11 information! The v6.5.3 release is recommended for those customers who will need to exchange bins and projects created in the soon-to-be-released Media Composer v7." Wait whats the problem with sharing bins here? Does MC 7 not share bins with previous versions of Media Composer?

  • Re: So this is AVID...

I wrote out a whole long response but the internet decided to eat it before posting so i'll just touch on it's points. Learning to capture from tape is easy the hard part is learning the various decks and formats. DVCPRO HD HDV, DVCAM, HDCAM SR, D5, all these formats have many decks that support them with their own fun menus to learn. It seems

  • Re: Why not MetaFuze for Mac's????

Absolutely you're spot on with this comment. Mac vs PC is a silly argument and Avid has already made it so anyone can use whichever they prefer. There is no substance to a comment like real artists only use Mac. It is a preference bottom line. Why everyone insists on arguing over this is beyond me. Just because you have a mac doesn't mean you

You're definitley right as far as R3D is concerned Metafuze isn't really nescessary anymore. I know there are P2 based 3d cams and the like which may be the 3d workflow they are using otherwise redcine is your best bet. Oh and whats AMT?

Stereoscopic and DPX workflows rely entirely on Metafuze capabilities. I know I'm not alone in saying that I would love to see a DPX import feature in avid. And the old TIFF - > Imagemagik workflow for dpx using terminal commands is a bit much as well. Switching bootcamp partitions and/or loading up a PC bay just to use metafuze is counterproductive
