  • Jog Shuttle integration

When I first arrived at my current employer they were using Pinnacle Chrome HD (pre-Avid). At the next upgrade I converted to MC, but we still have the old Pinnacle system hardware lying around doing nothing. The breakout box is redundant as we're 99.9% tapeless now, but there is a very nice jog/shuttle (see here: http://www.kenstone.net/discussions

  • Re: Upgrade Advice

Thanks. The 8400 has Nvidia Quadro FX1500 and the 8600 the 1700. And probably didn't make it clear that these are systems I already have and I'm looking at the best possible upgrade path.

  • Upgrade Advice

Hi I'm looking into joining the 21st Century so it's time to upgrade as much as financially possible. Any advice will be gratefully received. System 1. Approved HP xw8600, Win XP, MC3, Adobe CS4, 3gb RAM - this is the main machine so going to Win7 64bit with MC5 and CS5 is the preferred option. I'd be interested in how this will perform

  • Re: MC 2.6 and XP SP version

Thanks. I'll stick with SP2 ans see how the MC upgrade goes... ...sleep with one eye open though.

  • MC 2.6 and XP SP version

I'm just about to re-instate a workstation that's been out of action for a while. It will be running MC 2.6. Is it safe to run Win XP SP3 or best to stick with SP 2? I seem to recall updating from 2.6 too. What's the most recent available (free) update from 2.6. Many thanks.

  • Re: DVCProHD QT lunacy.

Yup, tried importing and just getting a lovely shade of white, so no luck there. The Calibrated Software codec doesn't seem to like 1080i50, so Raylight looks like my only hope. It's a little ungracious of Apple to keep their QT codec to themselves.

  • DVCProHD QT lunacy.

I've been handed a HDD with footage shot on an HVX200 with Firestore. Usually it comes MXF, but for some reason this time they are DVCProHD QT. After a little rummaging around the web I see I can't import into MC and need to use something from www.calibratedsoftware.com or Raylight from www.dvfilm.com Are these my only options and if so what

  • Re: Pan and Scan HD in SD

Thanks. That's a shame. I'll have to look into maybe a AE workaround.

  • Pan and Scan HD in SD

I'm working with 1080i for the first time but the output will be SD, so presumably I can pan and scan using my HD footage with no loss to the SD output. Any tips on the best way to go about it? MTIA

  • Re: Upgrading XW8000 advice

I'm now looking at ways round this. Maybe get a bare bones XW8400 and cannibalise the XW8000 for any useable parts or look at the Dell option. However I can't see the approved Precision 490 anywhere at the moment. Has this been changed? And any experience with the Dells?
