  • Mac Pro/MC 8.2 / Sony HXR-NX5U Import Problems

    1. For standard definition, my camera a Sony HXR-NX5U produces MPEG2 files which I already knew are not supported. So the issue becomes converting the files before importing. Currently every conversion through Sorenson Squeeze 9 I've tried has ended up losing an unacceptable amount of color depth no matter the file type I choose. As files they all

  • Re: Importing from Sony HDR-SR10

One other mention: On my system the Cyberlink BD Solution movie player can access and play the files.

  • Importing from Sony HDR-SR10

A client has given me their Sony HDR-SR10 Camcorder with HD files on its hard drive. They wish it to be made into both Blu-ray and DVD formats. The camcorder's only outputs are Mini-HDMI, USB and Analogue RCAs (no Fire Wire!). I have imported the files on it into my Avid system but Xpress Pro says they are not recognisable (MTS extension). I can

  • Blu-ray time limits

As a general matter of practice I have always limited my authoring of DVDs to 2 hours of sound and video. It seemed to satisfy quality expectations of my clients as well as following the traditional 2 hour limit that VHS made us all believe was a standard length. So now I am being asked to create Blu-ray discs from fully HD sources as well as mixed

  • Re: Tape to Avid Express Pro to File for consumer Mac editing

Thanks for the tip. I did a sample conversion using Quicktime H.264 loading an uncompressed Quicktime file created in Avid Express Pro and did the conversion using a Quicktime Pro 7.1 Player. It looks pretty good. A 4 min. and 48 sec. clip went from a 1.01GB file to a 201MB file. Is there any advantage to upgrading my Sorensen to do this or is the Quicktime

  • Tape to Avid Express Pro to File for consumer Mac editing

I have about 70 tapes, some VHS, some VHS-C, some Video 8 from a client. Lengths ranging from 20 minutes to 2 hours. The client does not want regular DVDs, too bad that would be easy. He wants files burned on to DVDs suitable for editing on his Mac (I am asuming using I-Movie). The trick is to pick a file format that not only works on his Mac but is

  • CD Authoring on an Xpress-Pro platform

Sometimes I need to make good old fashioned C.D.s from analogue tapes and I have used Xpress-pro to do it too. Very high quality results but it is not as easy to do as other progams I've used that are designed more specifically for capturing and editing sound intended to become music C.D.s. Could someone recommend a programme I could use on my Dell
