  • Canon 7D - sound workflow - arrrggghhh

Okay I'm officially pulling my hair out now. I am prepping an edit for a feature film, shot on the Canon 7D and I need to work out a nice and easy route to syncing the sound with the WAV files that I've been provided. The story so far... I have managed to import the 7D footage with no problems, in fact it looks stunning, I'm importing at

  • HELP!! - How do I export an OMFI 2 - it's not option an option with MXF media

Sorry for this rather urgent request, but our audio engineer has changed and I now need to create a OMFI 2 file instead of the AAF. Alas I have no export option for this because I am working with MXF media. I have found a few suggested workarounds, but none seem to give me the options I need. I am on MC 3.5.1 using AMA to point to XDCAM EX footage.

  • Re: I move my Audio onto lower track and it can't be heard

Thanks for the response. I have to say it has been a real pain to work with (6 edits and two clients over my shoulder wondering why I can't suddenly have more than two tracks without a consolidation process) I seriously hope this gets sorted soon.

  • I move my Audio onto lower track and it can't be heard

Weird one this. I've just upgraded to MC 3.5.1 and using the new AMA feature I'm editing XDCAM EX from an external FW800 HD. I'm editing footage on the timline, all plays and edits fine, but as soon as I move a segment of sound onto anything other than track 1+2 it can't be heard when played (picture is still playing fine). I've

  • I'm looking to buy monitors - any advice?

I am looking for advice on purhchasing new LCD monitors. I have about £1200 ($1750) for either two monitors (20inch) or one big one (30inch) I want to be able to use the same monitor/s to edit on and for full screen playback of sequences. I will mainly be working with XDCAM HD EX and DvcPro HD so I would like a monitor that can work nicely with

  • Re: Don't make me go back to Final Cut Pro!!!

Thanks for your wise words Butcher and Job ter Burg. I guess it boils down to this; I really want to use Avid. I have used others, such as Lightworks, Premiere, Final Cut Pro and really the Avid is friendlier to me, regardless of technical capabilities. I just feel that Avid maybe missing a trick here. Smaller production companies (including mine) are

  • Don't make me go back to Final Cut Pro!!!

It’s like having an old friend back. After years of editing with Final Cut Pro and trying my best to really like it, I decided to buy the latest and greatest version of Media Composer 3.0 for the MAC. Voila, one feature film and three shorts later (both offlined using DV) and I love it; absolutely love it like one of my own. I’ve used Avid

  • Re: DVCPRO HD and Varicam

I'm going mad, there is no frame rate converter, that was meant for an FCP forum.

  • Re: DVCPRO HD and Varicam

Okay thanks for this. I'm wondering if anyone out there has worked with DVCPRO HD using a PAL workflow. It would be nice to avoid any conversion process. I'm wondering if I can just create a 25 fps sequence and use the Frame Rate Converter to create clips at 25 fps. In theory they should cut into the 25 fps sequence then? If anyone has had experience

  • Re: DVCPRO HD and Varicam

Todd, many thanks for this. Very informative and clear. On another note I will be working to produce a UK PAL version. Presumably I would use a 25 fps PAL project setting? Keith.
