the computer is brand new...

The OS I am using is XP professional and the version of avid is 5.x. Does 5.x mean it is the latest version? I dont know much about Avid and am not sure what the x stands for.

I have installed Avid Xpress on my PC, but get sevearl errors upon opening. Has anyone experienced any of these and could be of assistance? It is an XPS 410 from Dell. I realized after purchasing the computer that AVID requires the NVIDIA. I am newbie to all this computer jargon, but am definetly learning through my mistakes, such as the video card choice, and through the knowledge of helpful people like yourself.
