So the $495 that we where able to get moving from xpress pro to v3, then v3 to v3.5, then v4 has all been at a promotional rate? and now with v5 they are charging the actual upgrade price? what if you don't want the bundled software, will the price from v3 to v5 be $395 or will it go up as well? It's funny, we all want a more open system, but not at the expense of slowing down our edit. something i think is funny is that FCP is now moving people to a ProRes workflow, transcode your stuff to ProRes and then edit, Avid has always made us use there codec first before we could edit, and it made a much more reliable and fast system, now FCP

So im excited about MC5 but im not excited to see the price of upgrade go up. Im sure big studio folks can afford to pay more, but ive been using AVID for years now and purchasing upgrades. To see the upgrade go up $200 and then by October $400 makes me sad. The economy has been bad for video so i havn't had the margen for upgrades, im not alone

Yea, Maxon did this with Cinema 4D gave you full version at upgrade price with a scan of the competing products, was the incentive i needed to move!

Does anyone know if MC5 will ship with the ProRes Codecs, or will i need FCP installed in order to access the family of ProRes codecs? also there are a bunch of Apple codecs that come with FCP, will AVID ship with those in order for me to work other FCP projects or will i just have access to ProRes? Im looking to add a unity and two media composers for editing concerts, once edited the audio will be mastered in Pro Tools running on a mac. my question is would PC's be better for the media composers connected to unity or would Macs be just as good? Also for asset management and archiving would Avid interplay be the way to go? If so how much does
