  • Re: back up to 4.3.1

Interesting... according to the 4.8.2 Readme (4.8.4 is just a bug fix list): Avid Xpress Pro supports the following graphics card for Macintosh: NVIDIA GeForce 4 Titanium graphics card in the G4 The card shipped with the system in the G5 No mention of the Radeon. Does this mean that if I get a Radeon for my G4, I can run version 5.x?

  • Re: back up to 4.3.1

Please let us know how it works out... I'm running AXP 4.8.4 on a G4 (Dual 1.25 GHz, 4 GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 4Ti) because everything I've read from Avid says that version 5.x requires a G5 for a desktop machine (though it will support G4 on a laptop). BLKDOG... the Nvidia 4Ti is what was specified by Avid for version 4.8.4 on a G4 mac... AXP seems

  • Clip Icon Color

What does it mean when the little clip icon in a bin is orange? I can't seem to find it in the help files... (AXP 4.8.4) Thanks, Fred

  • Re: More QT Ref problems?

I'm seeing the problem on the computer monitor when playing the DVD (though it's hard to see, the MPEG encoding masks a lot of it.) I just tried it on a normal TV (I don't have my good monitor by the DVD player) and I didn't notice the jagged edges. Does this mean that it's "normal" for the QTRef to have this jagged effect, but it all comes out fine

  • More QT Ref problems?

I've noticed a lot of posts recently on QT Ref files being "bad". I seem to be experiencing the same thing, but I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's Avid. My setup: Power Mac G4, Dual 1.25GHz, 2GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 OS: 10.4.6 Quicktime: 7.0.2 (I can't seem to find 7.0.3 anywhere) AXP 4.8.4 Mojo Unlike other posts, I

  • Re: Deck Control, Capture Problem

According to Keyspan, the adapter is 422, so no converter should be necessary. They state the USA-28XG: Provides two RS-422 ports for connection to serial devices Draws power from the USB connection -- a power adapter in not required Has been qualified by Apple, Avid and others for connection to video decks BLKDOG's suggestion is a good one... try the

Turning off the deck control is exactly what I ment. Tried it twice, and the computer locked up solid both times. I'll try rebuilding the site settings, and see if that helps. Oh, and for those who believe in a small world, the system is at Walter Johnson :)

Larry Rubin: So as long as all the hardware and software work when you wake it up, go for it. So far, the system seems to be running OK (at least it starts). But, it looks like MC really wants a deck that it can control through a serial interface (which, at the moment, we don't have.) I've tried to capture directly (I forget what the mode was called

  • Avid in a High School - Recommendations wanted

To start with, I'm not sure this is the right forum... but it seems the best place to start. The Background: A good friend of mine runs the TV studio & theater at a local public high school, and I occasionaly lend a hand in the technical end of things. Recently, a local production company "upgraded" their old Avid systems to FCP... and donated the
