• Re: Titles cause colour clipping effect

Ok I've found what the white screen issue was (QT Refs and filler) thanks to this thread Also the source footage is from a Canon 550D and was transcoded as 609/709, not sure if this would make a difference to the colour clipping I'm seeing on the clips with effects and titles. Dean

  • Re: Crash changing Overwrite/Insert Mode while dragging clip

Hi Andrew, I'm still on 5.5.3 but it would appear to be to me that mouse buttons above the normal two are not disabled while dragging as the keyboard seems to be and causes the crash. Dean

  • Titles cause colour clipping effect

I am doing some simple end credits with PiP and a realtime reflection as per the Avid Screencast Tutorial The titles were created in Marquee and are white and static, in Media Composer they play fine but once exported to Sorenson a few of the clips (which were probably a little over exposed) have areas that I can best describe as looking like the colouring
Dean, evidently you've found a weakness in the MC 6 user interface I/O - I wonder if a similar problem would occur with jog-shuttle controllers? I'm guessing that the engineers at Avid never thought of someone changing mode mid drag ;-)
Yeah, they probably never expected such unorthodox and loose
In your settings there is an option to only have one segment mode available at a time. That may help
Hi Andrew, I have that set already as well as clicking TC turns off Smart Tool as I prefer to leave the Smart Tool off and select what I need as I need them either by keyboard or as I thought would be handy
I'm amazed that changing mode while dragging works at all. I would have thought that the outcome would be at best ambiguous, at worst catastrophic.
You're right it doesn't and if it didn't work like via the keyboard then it'd be fine but it causes one of those ugly errors if pressed by accidident
That way, you don't have to go through "coulda, woulda, shoulda" regrets sometime down the road.
Hey I've been down the "shouldn't" road already with my slightly premature upgrade to 5.5 thinking it'd save me a few pennies when 6 was released as going from 5 to 6 would

  • Re: Do I need BCC 8?

That's the problem I haven't used it *but* may use it... I've fallen for the fancy marketing and feel my editing life won't be complete without BCC... I'll be reluctant to pay 500 pounds or so for it next year with the 260 pounds for Media Composer. I'm wavering already... Dean

  • Do I need BCC 8?

I'm just looking for a bit of guidance and views on whether it would be worth getting BCC8 now prior to the price hike now that it's not included with Media Composer. I don't expect to upgrade to MC 6 just yet unless I find AVCHD imports a problem with 5.5 when I get a new Camcorder (currently using Canon 550D for HD) but I will upgrade

  • Crash changing Overwrite/Insert Mode while dragging clip

During my trail and error "best" configuration I have mapped the Smart Tools Overwrite and Insert to buttons 4 and 5 on my Logitech G5 Mouse. I haven't installed the bloated Logitech software as Media Composer saw the buttons without it installed. The problem came about as I began to drag a clip while in Overwrite mode and realised that
