• Re: Heads Up: Malware for Macs.

A page to check if your Mac is infected https://www.drweb.com/flashback/ Apparently Apple are working on a tool to remove any infections found as well as removing the command and control network http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5244 Dean

  • Heads Up: Malware for Macs: Updated.

By day I work in IT Security and see many "Drive By" attacks (visit a legitimate website that is infected) with attacks workstations with vulnerable software using Windows leading to the download and installation of Trojans and Fake AV etc all without user intervention. But recently this has been happening to Macs due to Apple lagging behind

  • Re: Editing 1080/50p

I have the SD900 and Media Composer 5.5 and I'm pretty sure that 1080/50p isn't a supported format. I believe the AVCHD format is interlaced only for 1080 (720 progressive is valid), so this is not a "valid" format, from other posters the difference between 1080/50p and 1080/50i HA is not noticable to the eye. I'm sure I read somewhere

  • Re: Anyone Using Avast Anti-Virus Software?

I've not used Avast on my editing PC, I'm currently using Microsoft Security Essentials (64 bit version) without issues I work in IT Security when I'm not trying to work out Media Composer and I have a few tips for safer internet use based on my experiences with Malware, no doubt off topic here, so send me a PM and I'll send you some

On a sample seq, create two Titles both at the same resolution. Mark In/Out so that only one of the Titles is encompassed. Set your Media Creation
Not replace the titles as such but the media that allows them to playback. Unless you have imported files with mattes or have mixdowns my prefered choice is to delete renders (or use MDV to move them offline in case I need one back later!) The re-render and re-create titles after ensuring the media creation settings

Hi Larry, Sorry to ask possibly a silly question but from what you explained, I needed to replace the titles as I did? Is that correct? Dean
Go into the media creation section of your user settings, where you can set the resolution and disk destination for each different type of media and go to the appropriate tab.
Thanks I've made the changes and it worked fine.
Yes. Select all the title clips in the

  • Re: A question about rendering...

Thanks for all your responses. Thanks to all your comments I think the issue is that my storage has problems with the uncompressed titles, so I thought I'd try and save some of the titles as DNxHD 185 (I used Marquee) but couldn't find a way to do this, as loading the title and saving back to a bin seems to retain the 1:1 MXF format. So is there

  • A question about rendering...

I have a couple of observations about Media Composer (still on 5.5) and rendering. I noticed that on a very simple project (1080p/25 - DNxHD 185 and Titles 1:1 MXF) I'm working on that once the timeline is exported as a QT Ref then the timeline is rendered as expected, all the effects were real-time playback effects and apart from a few effects
