  • Re: Upgrade to Sorenson Squeeze 6.5: Benefits/Problems?

I have just taken the upgrade offer and installed 6.5 - the new features that I have found to be beneficial are: 1. Better structure for pre-set settings (i.e there are now settings for devices, Discs, Editing, Formats, Web) etc. 2. There seem to be a number of Avid specific settings that I have yet to try 3. My best discovery was that the Editing tab's

I have tried to import some other 16:9 files and they seem to work. I believe this is a codec issue and is caused by the way that Avid exports widescreen PAL QT files

  • Sorenson 6.5 issue

Hello I know this is not a Sorenson board but I wondered if anyone has had this issue. I have a Quicktime movie file output from MC5 it is SD PAL widescreen (1024X576). When I import this into Sorenson5 and I change the aspect to 16:9 the file displays correctly and the aspect ratio proportions are correct. The same file in Sorenson 6.5 opens as 4:3

  • Re: AVID disturbing error about video card

This may be related to the usie of Boris BCC 3D text effects in the project you are opening - I seem to recall getting a similar message when using the Boris 3D effects - but it did not seem to impact on the actual working of the system.

  • Re: Issue with importing video in MC5

Hello Bernd I was not really answering anyone in particular - except I have been asked to edit a bunch of AVCHD files from a Sony camera and my experience of this was to import them directly into MC5 without going through the Sony PMB application. Your situation is a little different as your format is not AVCHD but rather Mpeg files and I would probably

  • Re: Issue with importing video in MC5

Hello Try this - Instead of using the PMB software to import your movie files from the camera, connect to your camera as a USB drive and copy the .MTS files from the camera to a hard drive on your computer. The open MC5 and use the import option in a bin to import the mts media files. This should import the AVCHD files into the required bin for editing

  • Re: 16:9 PAL sequence exports with 4:3 metadata

Thanks for all the replies ... This is why this forum is so valuable! George - unfortunately your recommendation does not work - I can click between 4:3 and 16:9 to my hearts content the video stays 4:3 Adam - your suggestion did work - the burned DVD plays fine in 16:9 on a DVD player so it seems that although the movie preview in Avid DVD shows 4

  • Re: 16:9 PAL sequence exports with 4:3 metadata

George Thanks - this does not seem to work as although the screen becomes a 16:9 screen the video stays 16:9 with black bars down the sides. Are you talking about the Movie tab that has the radio buttons for 4:3 and 16:9 (if so I cannot make it 4:3 when it is already 4:3) Thanks

  • 16:9 PAL sequence exports with 4:3 metadata

Hello Does anyone get this problem? When I export a 16:9 SD PAL timeline (QT reference / QT Avid Codecs) the metadata exported with the file says it is 4:3 and so when I bring the file into AVID DVD the output is displayed as 4:3 No matter what I do in MC5 (16:9 Pixels) or in AVID DVD -(making the project widescreen), it always defaults to an AVID DVD

  • Record to tape (other options)

Hello I have an ongoing problem in MC where I am unable to record anything back to tape. Logging / capturing / digitising etc all works fine but when I try to get the content back to tape, I get the dreaded flamethrower problems. (I have a post about this somewhere in the forum). Apparently I am using the wrong firewire vendor, which is unfortunate
