  • Can an EDL do this

Hello I have a sequence of about 100 images on the timeline - all have transitions and other effects applied. This is essentially a photo build up of an engineering project completed over 2 years. My problem is that the client may want to replace some pics used in the video with pics they deem to be betters. I have given them a CD of the pics physically

  • Re: What animation/graphic programs are Avid editors using?

Hello Irrespective of the tool you use - make sure that you invest the time and the effort into learning it properly. (At this point I would say that despite the number of hours I have spent in Avid FX, I am still only a beginner, and I stare in awe at what a skilled and knowledgable Avid FX operator can do ) Some of the sample rolls I have seen done

As a lot of people have provided links to the Avid FX / Boris Red tutorials - I will refrain from doing so as well. But suffice to say the tutorials provide a lot of value as there are a number of concepts in them that can be used in other projects. Also, just to clarify; Although a lot of the BCC filters are available in both Avid MC and Avid FX, I

I use (and really am starting to like) Avid FX (Boris Red) - and as a bonus - it comes with MC5 - why is it not more popular with Avid editors? I agree on Photoshop - that is a must. But I cannot justify the cost of CS5 just for the 'add ons' and then just discard Premier. The MC5 bundle provides Avid FX and Avid DVD ++ - so unless you want

  • Re: Avid please bring Liquid back!!!!

Before I bought the Matrox Mini for client monitoring, I would really have liked Avid to allow MC5 to use the break out box from Liquid. As boxes go - Its a good box - add an HDMI port and it would be a great box. Even now I still use Liquid for all my analog capturing requirements - true they are few and far between for paying customers - but you do

  • Best format for CD business card distribution

Hello A client would like to place a video I did for him on a mini CD business card. My question is what is currently the best file format for this video? Given that PC's like WMV, Macs like QT and then there is MP4 / H264 format. Flash may be problematic as a standalone flash player is not universal. Any suggestions as to what I should encode the

  • Re: Matrox Mini MX02

Thanks William I have done what you suggested To do this, I placed a switcher box between the amplified sound and the Matrox and my sound card output - so when I am in MC5 with Matrox mini running I switch to that source and if I am reviewing audio outside of MC5 I switch over to the Sound card output. Also for general information I missed the e on

  • Matrox Mini MX02

Hello My Matrox Mini arrived today and it is now installed and working a treat. I have noticed that you can do HD and SD monitoring on it through the HDMI cable (okay the SD projects dont look too good, but you can do it). But, the sound is also routed through to the HDMI output device (i.e my LCD TV speakers). Is there a way to route the sound out

  • Re: Avid FX (Boris Red) vs. After Effects

Hello Douglas Always happyto help - sharing ideas is what makes us better. For some reason I do prefer working in the Avid FX standalone application rather than through MC5 - I am not sure why - maybe it is purely a load sharing thing between computers or something like that because sometimes using Avid FX from within MC5 can be very easy as well. • Avid FX (Boris Red) vs. After Effects

Hello I have increasingly been turning to Avid FX for my FX work (titling / some compositing and other related work) - I am not talking about BCC or even launching Avid FX from within MC5, but instead I run a version of Avid FX on a separate machine and I import footage/pics and other assets into Avid FX, create my clips and export them as QT Animation
