Hmmm... I'm guessing this is based on the two separate types of exporting that now exist because of the newer macOS versions. MC 2020 and newer uses the UME media engine. MC 2019 and prior uses the traditional QuickTime-based engine. Apple EOL'd it, so Avid needed to invent a new one (UME). Here's the FAQ: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb

Pretty much every GIF maker out there, be it an app or a service you subscribe to, has better tools in both efficiency and quality. Meaning, GIFs are essentially "non-video videos" that exist in a completely different color space/ecosystem, so the titles, mosaics, stickers, emojis, and other effects are all callibrated specifically for that
