• Phrasefind unavailable - MC 8 problem only?

Is phrasefind still offered for sale for MC versions 7 and older? Is licensing just an issue with MC8? I looked in the store and couldn't find it. If it's not available from the Avid store, do third parties like Videoguys still have copies of it?

  • Re: Best way to scale up shots in Avid for Grade?

I ussually do the same thing that Kevin talks about, placing the unaffected shot at the end of the sequence with some handles. Resolve will recognize a time warp on a clip. What I ussually do is go into the controls and tell resolve to interpolate the time warp using it's own math, as opposed to the math that avid sent it. I've found that it's
Why would I pay 299/yr for features that I already paid for? They are asking me to pay up front for upgrades and updates, without giving customers a clue about what to expect.
I'm not making a comment about whether or not the $299 is worth it. Keep in mind though that up until Premeire went subscription

Here's how I see it. There's a lot of features that Avid has that other NLE's either don't do well, or don't do at all. For example, to make a subclip in avid and then remove an audio track from that subclip takes three clicks of the mouse and keyboard. In Premiere it takes 9, and you lose a frame of picture because you can't

  • Re: 4K proxy workflow or online?

Yes, Avid is 1080 delivery only. As to color correcting using your original gh4 4k files as the source, it really depends on your computer. If it has the power and resources to handle the job, then stick with the original files. Transcoding them to APR 4444 doesn't really get you much other than the possibilty that you're computer may perform

My suggestion is to load all of your GH4 media into resolve and make your 1080p DNx36 dailies in that program. Take the DNx36 media into Avid and edit. Lock picture and export an AAF that you load back into your resolve project and color correct. Export whatever resolution you want from there. Benefit to this is having one project that you start and

  • Re: A vote of confidence in MC8

The problem I have with FCPX (in theory, since I don't use it, but keep downloading the updates) is that all of the updates are tied to the current OS, and that the updates ussually only drop imeediately after an OS update Apple: "Hey, we just added 'X' feature to our .0.x release. But, you can't have it unless you update to the

My reply may sound a bit rude, and if so, I apologize, it's not my intent. However, based on the number of questions you are asking and the knowledge level they require to answer, I have a few questions of my own for you. 1. Have you ever edited a dialogue feature film of this size before. 2. Is your assistant a novice, or have they worked on something

  • Re: Transition jump in Media Composer 7.0

Check your render settings. Try setting the render codec to the same as the P2 sources. It may not be the issue, but it's worth checking.

  • Re: Avid and new MacPro

Despite my recent unhappiness with Avid, I can say that 7.0.4 does work on the new mac pro, as does 8.0. Not sure what you're alluding to when you say that avid doesn't support it.
