  • Re: Avid FX 6.4 crashes MC 8.5.1

Where I work, we have upgraded MC twice while continuing to use AvidFX 6.4 and had issues both times ( all suites, all users) but eventually got AvidFX to run hassle-free. What i found was common was that, if any User opened an existing Project and either tried to open an existing AvidFX filter or just park the Timeline on an unrenered AvidFX instance

  • Re: Moire and Neat Video

It depends what you mean by "a moire kind of pattern." Make sure you are working in 10bit mode and preferably rendering and viewing in 10bit. If you're seeing a shimmering or flickering pattern, you may be over sharpening. If you're seeing stepping or banding, then you're not working entirely in 10bit, either because of you're

  • Re: Media not supported by Interplay

When I was finishing the Sequence (grading etc) there was linked DNxHR media used. When I finished with the Sequence, I transcoded the HR clips to DNxHD 185X and relinked to them. After reading the response, I set the Timeline Clip text to only show Media Resolutions and searched for the text 'DNxHR'. It found a clip that was used several times

  • Site Settings not sticking

I'm running MC 8.5.2 on OS 10.11.4 My Site Settings are empty. When I drop some settings into it and Save and exit the Project and then reopen that Project, the Site Settings gets emptied or overwritten by a new empty file. This didn't happen to me before the last upgrade. I have read/write access to the file Site Settings.avs but NOT to the

  • Media not supported by Interplay

I got the following error message in Media Composer during the Check In process. Is it because of media greater than HD? I did have some of that, in DNxHR codec, in my Sequence. The Sequence & Project were HD. This media is not supported for check-in in this configuration of Interplay Production. DIDWriter::DoSDKHWEncodeForCapture - SDK HW encode

  • Re: Can't relink AMA files to EDL made from AMA Edit

You didn't say WHY you are doing this; what you want to achieve. It sounds like you just want to Consolidate your clips...? I successfully did a simlar thing for a specific purpose by Decomposing a copy of the Sequence then Relinking. EDLs only carry Reel (Tape) Names and Timecodes, so unless you assign Tape Names to your AMA Links, the EDL process

  • Re: how exporting in quicktime (same as source) with 4 audio tracks

Yep, we had the same issue as the OP and yep, we used the same workaround as Mark suggested. But we recently upgraded to 8.5.2 and now we can export to QuickTimes that hold 2 x Stereo audio tracks, in the one export. Thanks Avid. Another improvement that saves we Users time. Well Done. Neil.
  • Re: MC 8.5.3 Place playhead to the end of timeline

For what it's worth... We recently upgraded our systems. On our old systems, running 8.2.5 it DIDN'T happen. I checked it when I saw the original post. After the upgrades to 8.5.2, it DOES happen. Neil.

  • Re: clicking time code layer exits effect editing

Not sure what you mean by "timecode layer" but it sounds like you're clicking the timecode TRACK in the Timeline window, in order to play your effect. If that's the case, you need to click in the mini-timeline under the Record window. This is a timeline of just the segment that contains the effect. Certainly, if you are in Effect Edit

  • Re: A LOT more than 24 Audio tracks.

We Users like to kick heads a bit on forums, so it's worth giving a bit of 'Credit where credit's due.' Great to see that as of v8.5, we have 64 Audio tracks. Thanks to the people at Avid for listening and acting. Neil.
