• Re: what is the approved process to deactivate licenses and switch computer?

Hi Castlegatemedia, You should create a case on the MyAvid support portal and someone will get to you asap. https://www.avid.com/US/support/support-contact If you don't get anywhere with them, send an email to Marianna Montague (marianna.montague@avid.com). She is Avid's customer advocate, and can help you.

  • Re: jerky output

That looked fine to me. If you were being exceptionally nitpicky there might have been a very small amount of jerkiness in the closeup shots of the brickwork at 2:30, but it's not anywhere near enough to an actual problem that I would try to fix it.
My friend cutting on PP said there you simply type -200% when parked over the clip and it does what you want. Which is the better approach, and why?
Life is too short to get into it with editors who use other NLE software about which one does a particular task in the best way and why.

  • Re: How to stop MC First booting instead of my Master MC account

When you start Media Composer, press and hold the 'W' key. This should bring up a dialog box that allows you to pick what app opens and how you want to activate the license (if required).
the clip on the timeline already has "TS" over it
Park on the clip you want to adujst. Open the Motion Effect Editor. Click the 'Promote' button. You should now be able to adjust the speed of the clip using keyframes or by typing a value into the speed box.
So is this the time to upgrade to Win10 or Win11 - how does Avid supoort these - even for MC 8.5.3 ? And are they stable in the real world experience of other editors?
According to the ReadMe for 8.5 Windows 10 is supported, so you're good there. I can't speak to how well 8.5.3 works, but I've

  • Re: Disabling and deleting filler
Hi Carl - I have to admit that my problem was - as horserisers say "abocve the saddle" - I had muted two audio tracks and was iritated by the greying out of the tracks which looked and behaved like filler. Re-anable the tracks and no problem :)
I'm glad it was an easy fix! :)
