I've ordered a hyper-machine to jump to Current from MC6. Interested to know what features folks have particularly appreciated in releases since that cro-magnon era. I'm glad to see that scriptsync is included. Hoping it's possible to disable clips on the timeline, and speedramp audio (with pitch correction).

It's upgrade time. I use avid for artistic purposes, but I run a CAD Laptop to make a living. It's time to upgrade the CAD laptop to something quite powerful, and I'm looking at combining resources to get one doozy of a current Avid-qualified laptop to use for both AVID and CAD. It seems like there could be a considerable economy there.

Thanks Luca. I think MC is indeed exporting at the levels it is playing back. But Cubase, on playing back these clips, reduces the level by the amount to which its pan law is set. I imagine that is so there's absolutely no risk of pan law processing driving peaks past a clipping point. The user is expected to use gain to bring the overall signal

In Mono Mix Mode, in which I am working and mixing, the tone clip named -20 db registers -23db on the clip level meter (at 0 gain) but registers a master level of -20db.
