• Re: Zoom while editing using iMac - Audio solution?

The very best solution for Zoom and Avid, I have found is to use BMD Web presenter (fed from the Decklink), thereby turning Avid into a guest itself, as a webcam input. It requires a seperate laptop (to attend yourself at the same time) but the quality for Avid is very good in both picture and audio. I had this installed for remote Producer sessions
if I could I would hug you right now. Thank you for getting me backup and working.
What did they do? Ralph? I have noticed that on the splash screen of my perpetual dongle, it will say so many days left and in September, just before I renewed those days remaining turned red. It's a bit alarming that if you do

  • Re: Tips / Guide for Avid Media Composer finishing workflow

What Pat and Glenn, say re Resolve is spot on. I do a lot of finishing and the real reason for roundtripping is the limited toolset in Symphony and the need (here in the UK) for AS-11 delivery, which until recently you could not do from Resolve. The alternatives to round-tripping are, do it all in Symphony - not impossible but getting very creaky -

  • Re: Dell Workstation 7770 and Dell Dock WD19DCS

I don't know about the Dell but I've been happily using a HP ZBook 17 G5 with a Thunderbolt G2 docking station for some time. I moved a while ago to workstation laptops from desktops, because of my case use. The Zbook has been upgraded to a 16GB Quadro 5200 and now 128GB ram and I have found it powerful enough for all my use in Avid and Resolve
My firmwares say they're updated already
They will say that with old firmware and software. You have to install the latest version before newer firmwares are possible and recognised. It's not an internet thing, the actual firmware is carried in the software.

Yes I would update to the latest Eucontrol and update the firmware, on each. You will be very disappointed with Color in Media Composer, especially if you have Symphony, but I imagine you already know that. If you have Baselight Editions, you may also know that the panel is wonderfully responsive and useful then, for grading. If you intend to resurrect
It does everything what resolve can do... in MC!!
I recently bought Baselight Editions, mainly because I acquired an Artist Color panel for Resolve, where it works well but was horrified to see how bad it worked in Symphony, even though I'd been warned! How can Filmlight do a so much better job than

  • Re: Media Composer won't shuttle

Same here on 2022.10, I have to reboot Avid to get it back sometimes. It happens if I use the Shuttle Pro V2 once, then no mount of JKL, will speed it up until relaunch. I'm sick of bugs like this and the interface ones, I'm re-installing 2018 at the weekend.
and I have the rendering drive on a sata III port.
I would move this to an NVME drive, it will at least speed up rendering considerably. You may find your problem is ram - I would double that ram, at least for working in 4K. Possibly too, your Prores HQ is 50/60p? Then you are dealing with 8 x the bandwidth of HD
