I'm running High Sierra and see the same intermintant behavior with scrubbing. Only a restart will fix it. For me, this issus began with 2018.12.1.

I'm not sure if it's related, but settings in the command palette are also not saved after restart in version 2018.12. I use shortcut keys for Timeline views, which are setup within the More section of the Command Palette. But the settings are not saved after re-launch. So maybe there's some connection with settings files not being saved

I just noticed this is the PC Forum, but all our systems are Mac, so this issue is obviously cross-platform.

I have the same problem with Command Palette not holding the Timeline View settings. And I also created a new user, with the same results. This began with 2018.11. Moving back a version or 2 is the only fix I've found.

For me, one example is that I have mapped the Expand and Contract Timeline functions to the 4th & 5th buttons on my mouse. I use them constantly, and I expect playback to stop the moment I click my shortcut buttons. But now I always have to stop playback first, which is kind of annoying to me. Not a huge deal breaker, just being forced to change

I agree. Please allow it to be turned off. 25 years with Avid, and a long established workflow and the Live Timeline gets in my way.

A Film Fade is just a dissolve with a bit of a ramping of transition speed. I think what you're looking for is Fade To Color.
