If you use background Transcoding you will see the new mastr clips created before the transcodes actually start so they will show as media offline. Yes deuplicate fields means half the vertical resolution but simple to do. Interpolated means belnded frames VTR style means processed to minic how VTRs used to do dynamic playback speeds. Then of course you have motion predication via fluid motion but its slow to process and can introduce its own smudging errors.

Is this music linked into Avid (so being accessed across the network from the server) or has it been imported and therefore stored locally? Does any other audio work ok or cut out? Has this setup worked before ok and this is a new development?

Worth noting that re-import is more problematic on newer Macs that will have lost the ability to import QT content.

If you managed to get relink to link sound then I presume you have a copy of the sequence you need to work on? If you have the sequence then it should be possible to re-connect the source media. If you don't have a sequence then you don't have an edit.
