• Re: Avid Advertising & Marketing: Directed at Who ?
Like it or not they are strongly positioned to service the enterprise level customers. So why are we faulting them for targeting these customers?
Hi TVJohn: That's not my point at all. The real questions are why are we only targeting this narrow segment of the market ? If advertising and sales is a numbers game
Mark Job, who really cares about all that stuff you mentioned I don't
Hi Tim: OK. Fair enough, but if I had 10 bays or more, then I would probably want to upgrade them all at once (and not all of the sudden), so that everything communicates to Avid mainframe at the same software level. If I was a small boutique
And just a point of clarification, the 5.5 product line has been announced, but the actual release is currently scheduled for March 8th.
Hi Larry: To my knowledge, MC 5.5 was un-announced and un-promoted before it was released. May I also point out that the time frame folks have to take advantage of the low
I agree, Kenton; however, the needs of the boutique owner are different than the needs of the enterprise customer. That fact that Avid offers such a fantastic workflow at the enterprise level does not necessarily speak to the needs of the boutique owner. Would be nice if Avid made their intent to support the event
Conversly, Apple has attacked the market from the complete inverse direction, from the diaper farm.
Hi John: True, Apple does take this approach, but I am certainly not suggesting Avid should do the same. I only point out Avid does not seem to fully comprehend its total market. Boutique to mid sized is unaddressed
Avid focuses on those big time clients in their marketing because it makes more sense to say "Hear what Oscar & Emmy award winning editors are saying about Avid products" than "some guy you've probably never heard of uses Avid products"
Hi Kenton: You see, your post misses my

  • Avid Advertising & Marketing: Directed at Who ?

Go onto any Avid website and look over their media video advertisements, read their testimonials, who or what kind of client do you see ? You will see only one kind - Enterprise, enterprise, enterprise ! I challenge anyone to refer me to one - just one testimonial or video which comes from a boutique sized company or individual discussing how Avid products

I too, agree that the Nitris DX box is a wonderful quality, solid piece of equipment, and I would like to be able to afford to purchase
Which deal is that? I put the promo's in play, this is the best deal I can remember.
Hi Dave Avid PM: Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, however, respectfully, I have to agree to disagree with you on how good these deals are. I think your price point on the Nitris DX retail is ridiculous
