I have had the same problems with the latest version of Adobe Media Encoder. I have the NVIDIA Quadro K5000 (for Mac) video card. However, AME CC 2017 handles the same files with no problems. I tend to believe that the issue is with Adobe's latest version.

I upgraded my 2010 Mac Pro 1 year ago with a 3.46 12-core, including 64GB ram and I'm still extremely happy with the upgrade! I went the ebay route and paid about $700 for the cpu/ram. I also put in a new SSD and a new NVIDIA k5000 for Mac. The performance and relaibility has been fantastic!

Unfortunately, only MC 8.9.3 or higher is qualified for High Sierra.

The menu item Tools/Hardware Setup does not open the settings for Artist DNxIO. The only way to change any settings is to manually launch the Blackmagic Desktop Video application.

I too have had issues with the "ghost" bin when creating freeze frame and slow motion effects with 8.9.3. A clip is loaded in the source monitor and it can be edited into a sequence, but they are not in any bins within the project. I've received the same error message too.

I replaced the stock 5770 ATI Radeon card in my Mac Pro with the NVIDIA Quadro K5000. For me, it was well worth the cost just for the greatly increased speed endoding video with Adobe Media Encoder. It is also rock solid in Media Composer.

I believe AMA Plugins are not removed when uninstalling MC. They stay in the AMA folder until either manuallly removed or you do a full clean install of your operating system.

We are linking to P2 media without any issues. We had issues with linking P2 media until we manually removed ALL the old AMA plugins, for every format we use, and then installed the latest versions. AMA plugins are stored in Library > Application Support > Avid > AVX2_Plug-ins > AMA .
