• Re: FCP X
Like many have said, we'll just have to wait and see what FCP X evolves (or fails to evolve) into over the next year. We'll see just how Apple responds to the reaction to this product, to see if they are truly listening to their existing user base, or are they only interested in selling more and more product
Otherwise Premiere would be the benefactor of these defectors as most FCP editors already have it installed with Adobe CSx.
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if Adobe didn't capitalize twice... one being with the AVID smartool misstep and the FXP to FXPx major change.

  • Re: Capture Issues with Canon DV cams MC5

AVID MC does not play well with Canon Vixia tape camera... the most comon excuses/reasons is that MC is a pro-level capture application that doesn't tolerate consumer camera... so much for that reasoning... what you need is a solution... The best CAPTURE solution is to not to use MC... instead try HDVSplit... if you don't need the meta data

Cuervo... Not at my machine... but, my memory has it that when you use color correction in AVID the 10 bit level is shown... but, edits as 8 bit and preview quality can not be seen during edit as 10bit.... so... when you say you see banding... do you mean in an exported file format and not in the AVID preview window? If you are viewing from the timeline

And, it appears that using BCC within Avid MC is almost an afterthought.
Joe, maybe that was a slip of the "tongue". BCC is not an application as such. It is a plug-in that needs a host application. In MC the host application is the Avid Effects structure - I believe

In a nutshell... AVID is pretty much an editing software - only. And, it appears that using BCC within Avid MC is almost an afterthought. If you want to expand into a compositing and editing application combination that works efficiently... then, you need to go the 64bit version of Adobe After Effects and Premeir Pro combo. Or, use AVID MC as your editing

  • Re: Avid sequence, with handles, into After Effects

In all honesty... I don't think you should not be using AVID as your editor... It appears your work flow is an equal mix of compositing and editing... and AVID is simply not a good compositing option when compared to After Effects. That being said, if you did use Adobe.... I would ONLY use ADOBE Premium Production 5.0 (w/Win7) or higher with a dual
thx for the suggestion jwrl, I found an even faster way, I exported avid codec .MOV's (which isn't as fast as quicktime ref's) then I saved all the .MOV's to my linux box and ran my ffmpeg script on them which takes every .MOV in folder creates a folder with it's same name and fills the folder with

  • Re: Re-install XP Pro - all the sudden AMA 7D files play flawlessly

Sounds like you had some driver issues... if you installed and uninstalled various driver version, I have found out that this will really screw up Win XP's ability to work well with AVID. This is especially true if you were using Nvidia driver software for the video card.
