Hi steve - Have you looked into Lynda.com? Really well done on-line training, not just one-off tutorials you will find on youtube. Check out the Media Composer link HERE .

Have not used the CC version of Premiere. Did a Red Epic 5k job on CS6 PP this past summer and found it lacking. However, while at the Southeast Creative Summit this past weekend, several very experienced editors mentioned that the CC version is much better than CS6. There was also some discussion on how the Arri Alexa was rapidly becoming the camera
pro editors for broadcast and feature?
pretty narrow definition of "pro". More like a niche in the "pro" market.
No source monitor?
Dont miss it, now that you mention it.
Final Cut X? Come on..
Yup. Been doing

What market are you in now? Why do you want to leave? What are you cutting now and what do you really want to cut? I think the cost of living comment is extremley important. Are you willing to take a hit in the quality of life you might have now in your current market to edit reality TV in LA? And that quality of life is another huge item to consider
I am tired of software developers thinking, professional software must be in the first place easy to use for a beginner.
Hmm, maybe all that revenue that can be gained by allowing more access to your product? Create brand-advocates earlier in the process? Have the new editor-crowd in your camp as soon as possible
A battle line for the future seems to have been drawn. On one side is Adobe CC with Premiere Pro, After Effects and SpeedGrade. The other is Resolve with improved editing functionality and OFX plugins.
so where does Avid MC and Apple FCPX fit in your battle theory?

very interesting indeed. Wonder if they will keep adding editorial functions? Why would they stop?
-
Well, Media Composer certainly could use some of the more advanced DS features, so there could be a lot of future work in that alone....

Thank you Marianna, for being straight on the answer. I guess we could all see this coming..... Thanks to all the folks in Montreal for all the work over the years.
