UPDATE: After working with Avid support, the solution was to reset all fonts back to Mac OS defaults. We had many hundreds of fonts inherited from decades of client supplied fonts. This solved the crashing problem. Now we're adding specific client fonts back, one at a time, to determine which 3rd party fonts are causing the issue. Now I'm happy

Professionals who use tools in their occupation often use tools from a variety of manufacturers. Software, hardware, cameras, mics, recorders, etc. are rarely the same brand. Yes, Media Composer's Trim and Media Management are the very best, along with lots of other features. PP also has some great features, including the 2 audio ones you mention

I've been doing this for years and still works great. Transcode all media in your sequence, then consolidate to a drive with no other Avid Media Files. Copy the Avid Media Files folder and your project files to your archive or storage device. I just did this with a couple big projects with tons of media from multiple sources over many years.

Check to see if the frame rate of the iPhone footage matches your project settings. Footage I've had to work with from iPhones is 30fps, not 29.97fps. Same with 60p (not 59.94) or 24p (not 23.98). Try changing the source settings to match the project frame rate, and then transcode to DNxHR or ProRes. I have found the HEVC codec looks great, but

The UME File Export on the current system has a NTSC 720x486 preset with a 59.94i option that defaults to 16x9 aspect ratio. However, if you change the aspect ratio to 4:3, the 59.94i option is no longer available - only progressive options. But no matter what options you choose, it seems to only create Upper Field First exports. I did find a work-around
