Had this problem too. Fixed it by selecting 'single pass' in the encoding option (faster encode-single pass). That's under h-264 settings. Hope this helps someone. (read more)

G'day there Dan, QuickTime Ref has not been available since macOS Catalina, two years now. I recommend using DNX or ProRes wrapped in MOV or MXF for quickest export, or an AAF as suggested for delivering to Online. (read more)

I have been given a file (45 minute documentary = 120 Gb) which opens in Avid as a Matte Key. If I invert the key - there's the image, but no audio.
