I've just had the same problem. Someone using FCP exported this file. MediaInfo says it's a HDV 1080i file. QT wouldn't play it - black screen but audio played. VLC did play it but it was a bit of a struggle. Sorenson Squeeze 9 also produced a white screen and would crash every time I tried... (read more)

Hello, I'm afaraid, HDV is not naturally QT-Ref-able. The Avid gurus can explain this further. Like mentioned, we normally master to m2t/HDV .
