Re: Moving a project with Linked media to an external drive?
Basically AMA linked media just doesn't move well. You can copy the AMA sources to the External drive and then link them into a new bin. That will cause the original clips to automatically re-link to that media. (most of the time) But it's not ideal and you have to do the same when you return...

Re: How to export MXF OP1a with Bitrate lower than 50Mb?
I suspect a 35mbps 1920 export would look pretty crunched up. Subsampling down to 1440 allows the 35mbps to achieve reasonable results. You maynot be able to select 1440 as a raster size unless you disable 3rd party I/O in the timeline. You should then get the 1440 raster option and your OP1a export...

Re: To AMA or not to AMA?
Video mixdown to a lower resolution suitable for youtube should be quick. I get approx 6X faster than runtime. so 60 min prog in 10 mins or less. Space is 30GB or so out of a 4T drive is a drop in the ocean.

Re: How to tell if a clip was brought in via AMA or imported... Fun with RED footage
I'd tackle it the other way. Take the final sequence. Ensure no old media is online. Use show reference clips (not a fan of decompose) to see all the sources used. Sort by source path to group by locations. AMA link those sources. Relink the sequence to the newly AMA linked master clips. If you have...

Re: Did i do the right thing ?
The only comment I would make is that the Project used to AMA link and consolidate will add that project name to the media. So the Project name of the temp project needs to be meaningful if you plan to use media tool later to do media managament. Also you didn't mention backing up the active project...

Re: Newbie export issues
As others have said. You can export and use the custom option. This takes you to the legacy QT back end and you can then choose to override many of the Avid export options. This causes much confussion as you now have to places to set size, framerate ect. Also as it's using the QT engine its slow...

Re: Conform turnover -- two questions
I agree. If they want to conform to the originals you can't consolidate or transcode. For Resolve finishing there is a neat tool called collect that makes a subset of your sources but as a finishing house we'd always want everyting. For a budget conform you could relink to the original sources...

Re: Resize Avid Program and Font Sizes?
A scalable GUI for MC has been a feature request for a while. But not implemented yet. So for now hires displays as GUI just don't work. Hopefully Avid will see this as an important next feature improvement... For now just switch you screen res down to 1920x1080 for something you can use. And hope...

Re: Getting Started From Time Machine Back-Up
You have to de-activate the old MC license before you can re-activate on the new system. You can contact support to resolve activation issues or Marianna here on the forums but try support first. Also time machine isn't reccommened for moving installations. it's always best to install fresh using...
