I am working on a project that is 720x480 and need to incorporate psd files that are 960 by 720. how do i properly get them into my avid timeline and have them look clear when i export? I dont want to crop the file because i need the whole frame

If you want to keep the complete 960x720 image an put it on your 720x480 to fill the frame completely - you have to expect some distortion, as 720x480 and 960x720 have different ratios.
There is one way that I will suggest.It does entail cropping part of your original image, but sometimes that can be a positive move.

You're going to have to make a sacrifice somewhere. You can't fit the image in the 720x480 space full frame because it'll stretch it out. To keep it from stretching, you can't fill the frame.
