I'm on Media Composer v.2.8.4.
When I play my sequence audio, tracks 3 & 4 phase. (The audio is center-panned 2-track dialogue.) When I match frame to the same audio on the original clip (video with audio on source tracks 1 & 2, audio does NOT phase.) When I cut and paste the phasing audio from the timeline tracks 3 & 4 to tracks 1 & 2, or tracks 5 & 6, the audio also does NOT phase. (All of these tracks, the source and timeline tracks are center-panned, and the volumes are also the same.)There are no plug-ins or EQ effects on the tracks either. The only variable seems to be which tracks the audio is sitting on in the timeline, and anytime the audio is on A3-4, it phases.
I had the same problem on a project 5 years ago on a different system, and assumed it to be a software bug, or something screwy with the audio card. Very strange to see the problem reappear.
My current project is on a Macbook Pro 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. There's no separate audio board, just computer speakers.
Any thoughts why this could be happening?
Back in the old-days there used to be a tiny file in the hard-drive that you'd need to occasionally trash to keep the audio card working properly. It was similar to trashing the media files databases. Does this fix even exist nowadays?
Thanks.
Well, there was a bug fix in Media Composer 2.7.4 that said: "Previously, audio may have been out of phase on playback and digital cut. This has been fixed." Don't know if it will help...
Must think of something clever to go here...
