    Firewire Problem

I am having a problem with outputting down the firewire to DV decks. I can capture fine without any problems but when I enable the output to DV function, play the timeline and monitor the deck all is fine for about 15 seconds until the sound goes and the picture breaks up. Sometimes it comes back again and sometimes MC freezes when it happens. I have tried different firewire drivers and I read that the legacy drivers were best with Windows 7, I have also tried 2 different decks and different drivers on each of those also. Digital Cut also isn't happy. I am using the onboard firewire on the front of the HP Z800 and I have also tried a PCI fireiwre card. The project is standard definition DV PAL, 25i, have also tried different projects and footage and firewire cable and get same problem. Both decks are set to the EE function and still have problems even if in record. Have also tried turning on and off 'realtime encoding'

I have been through all the Avid configuration guidelines for the computer and have tried running the decks as Generic DV devices and giving them named settings both on 'OHCI' and 'no port'

There is obviously something seriously wrong if a top end machine that is capable of editing HD footage cannot even output SD DV over firewire.

    Re: Firewire Problem

Thanks for that. Will try outputting on the exact same settings and see what happens.

    Re: Firewire Problem

Same problem I'm afraid. I have a feeling this is something to do with the actual computer drivers/hardware. Is anyone else using a Z800 and outputting down the firewire successfully?
