Hi Todd,
Is this DVD going to be available in Pal format? I'm making the switch to Avid from FCP now Apple have screwed up with X.
This training could be a great help.
Thanks,
Mike.
Mike:Is this DVD going to be available in Pal format?
In my experience, PAL or NTSC doesn't matter for DVDs. Only region does. To the best of my knowledge, these DVDs are region free.

PAL or NTSC doesn't matter if you're playing a DVD through a computer, but it does if you're using a DVD player. You can play an NTSC DVD in a PAL DVD player, but a PAL DVD won't play correctly in an NTSC DVD player connected to an NTSC TV.

Thanks for the info chaps, I'm going to chase this up.
Hi:
Is it possible to buy this as the download version? That would obviate any PAL/NTSC issues.
Thanks
Gerbow....
The DVD is only available as a shipping version. Class On Demand is offering it with support from Avid but it is a physical disk.
Are you unable to order it?

Hi! So I have a question regarding the Media Composer for Final Cut Users. I recently ordered MC using the FCP discount, and I'm extremely happy to finally get back into MC through this discount. Since I've used FCP a large majority of the time in the past I'd love to use the Final Cut tutorial to get back into MC. In the promo on the site it states "Each Media Composer 5.5 shippable box purchased includes a token to use and access the Class on Demand course "Avid Media Composer for Final Cut Pro Users”." This is somthing I'd love to utalize but can't find this turotial in the packaging or on the DVDs. If it's hidden on one of the DVDs it would be great to get directed to where it is, but I may be missing the tutorial DVD. Hope you can help.
Thanks!
- J
I never got the "token" to use the Class on Demand course either. When I try to call Avid, nobody knows what I'm talking about. Annoying. Any luck with this?
Not to be the turd in the punchbowl here, but I'd just like to quickly share a bit of frustration that I have with the Class on Demand that was bundled with my 6.0 Avid Media Composer Apple Final Cut Pro Cross-grade.
The class that was included in my Avid Media Composer 6.0 software package is set up for Final Cut Pro users to learn version 5.0 of Avid Media Composer. Even though the the changes from 5 to 6 might be considered small by seasoned Media Composer users, when I as a Final Cut Pro user and Avid newbie am trying to follow along to the online lessons, it is very frustrating and difficult to keep up when certain elements in my version 6 are not where they are shown to be in the online course refering to system 5. I spent a long time trying to figure out how get "super-bins" to work only to find out after googling that they don't exist in 6.0.
I suppose SOME training is better than NO training, but perhaps if you were to also include in the white paper the differences that we need to look out for in our versions of 6.0 that are different from the teaching material which uses 5.0 it would save a lot of grief and frustration. It wouldn't be that hard to do and should have been been thought of by Avid in the first place.

Michael Escher
