For those of you who are having difficulty finding them, here are the Media Composer Keyboard Shortcuts.
{EDIT} And attached are updated shortcuts for MC 5, CONTAINING SOME NEW ONES.

Larry,
Thanks for that link. It also shows a comparison list of updated icons for some of the shortcuts, which were updated for MC3. Is that keyboard shortcut list still valid for MC5, or are there any additional icon changes?
Igor
To the best of my knowledge, all previous keyboard shortcuts are still intact for MC 5. If anyone discovers any new ones, or any that are changed or missing, please report in this thread.
Here is a revised list of keyboard shortcuts relative to MC 5. THERE ARE NEW ONES.
Thanks a lot Larry.

The document mentions added functions; but does not seem to account entirely for the functions that have been *removed*.
Maybe someone expert in the new key commands can refute the criticism re: the changing of the control-key on Mac, which I have commented on in these threads -- and offer a solution for what we've lost:

As it is created from the user guide - it only mentions what exists in the actual programme. It would be very strange if the user guide was listing things that the user cannot find and use.
Sorry I can't be more specific than that.
On my Mac, Option+C no longer "copy the In/Out selection and send it to the Source monitor" - I use that shorcut so often... Now, in v5, it switches the Composer window from the dual Source/Record shape to a single Record monitor window. That happens to me dozens of times everyday...!
This is probably due to the new modifier key behavior that Avid has bestowed upon us.
For giggles, try CMD+C instead of Option+C.
The more I read about these sorts of key function changes, the less I'm finding myself likely to upgrade to v5. And the less I'll be recommending it to the others as well.

Is there a reason for 3 play buttons on the keyboard?

Saylur: Is there a reason for 3 play buttons on the keyboard?
I read, in one of the myriad of books (three) I have on MC, that the reason is to do with how one's hands are positioned for specific parts of the edit: at one point, the left hand may be 'busy' doing things, leaving the right hand 'available' to press a play key, and a bit later, it's the right hand that's busy doing something leaving the left hand more freely available to press a play key.
That made sense, until you realise the SPACE key is also mapped to Play ... and, my hands may be different from everyone else's, but whichever hand is 'active', and wherever and however they're poised over the keyboard, I always a thumb available on at least one hand to press the SPACE key.
So that answer no longer made sense.
And I have remapped the 'other' Play keys to something else - that made more sense to me.
So, I'm not surprised that, more than a year later, Saylur's original question remains unanswered ...

See what Patience gets you . Thanks for the reply. I have remapped a couple of them also.
Does anyone know if there is a way to export a list of all actual and potential keyboard shortcuts out of Media Composer in TXT format...tab delimited (as is possible in both Premier and FCP7)? If so, how?! And what I mean by 'potential' keyboard shortcuts would be an blank feild next to something that has no keyboard shortcut for it yet, but could ultimately have one assigned via custom keyboard mapping. Any help would be apreciated!
