"I was Interested in this ap because it was stated that it could export dpx sequence but in the export menu dpx is grayed out I think it is a stripped down alpha. Havent yet found out how to launch CC. Media Management is weird(Really weird). will wait for soft DS."
.
Dom Q. Silverio:DPX support is an OPTIONAL paid feature.
Dom Thank You for the information.
Dom Q. Silverio:I am trying it out and yes it is buggy.
In my experience no other NLE is so Buggy. (alpha, beta, pre release, final release all inclusive) save the Auto desk and the Quantel lineup on which I have no editing experience so not qualified to comment.
Dom Q. Silverio:In their defense I think this is a major code rewrite and not your typical upgrade.
Even Virtual Dub and Avisynth are a joy to use and have a lot utilitarian value.

This is about as false as any statement can be. Please use the tool before making statements like this.

Joe M:What is Soft DS?
DS is AVID DS http://www.avid.com/US/products/Avid-DS
Avid's flagship Editor Compositor VFx CC and finishing tool rolled into one.
It used to work with dedicated hardware.
The Software version is coming. = Software DS = soft DS
Scott, I wouldn't feel comfortable editing long form on a DS, I respect Your opinion, please respect mine, it is not a false statement, just my opinion, and how DS is marketed anyway, here it's a quote from the page You linked:
"OverviewConform, Composite, Stereo 3D, Graphics, and High-Res Editing and Finishing"
no mention of editing; I regard DS as a good finishing tool, and not as good as an editor, please feel free to have Your own opinion, which is Your opinion, different from mine, and not a false statement.
Well Luca and Scott both of you are Right better than both being wrong
Have you used it? I have, and (even in its early stages) it certainly is an editor, much more so than it's competition such as Smoke. My irritation is at a blanket statement that "DS is not an editor". This is simply not true. I apologize if this offended you, but because you would not feel comfortable editing on it does not make it blanket fact.

It reminds of the two Foreman I had, when I was a Farmer some 18 years back. These two were good friends and fine wood worker; any farm equipment, fences, ploughs sheds both could build with quite some finesse, but one loved the Broad Axe and the other loved the Adze. The Broad Axe man could finish any piece of wood work very efficiantly, while the one with the Adze could cut a log with the Adze as fast as any. They would argue endlessly on the point of which is a better cutting tool and which one is better finishing tool. All I can say both were fine wood artist. It taught me, more then the tool it is how we use the tools.

Thanks Scott. When I first saw that, I was more than a bit angry. I'm glad he clarified his statement.
We use DS for every aspect of editorial, offline, online and effects work. Long and short form, and I would not want to work on any other system. For our workflow, it's unbeatable.
I totally get that some tools are not for everyone, and maybe he should have said "I don't think of DS as an editor." (No doubt some will would have jumped on him a bit.)

Well said. An informed opinion is appreciated by all.
I am just glad we got back to talking about something remotely related to an Avid Product!
