DVCProHD Import Issues (FPC to MC)

I'm convinced this is just a matter of finding the right settings, or perhaps transcoding outside of Avid, but this is my issue:

MC 4.0.2 Adrenline and Nitris DX systems have both tried importing, with the same results.

Trying to import .mov files from another shop that show up as DVCPro 720p/24 codec at 960x720 into an Avid project that is 720/60p (59.94) and the image has what looks to me like interlace issues, where there are artifacts that look like combing, but aren't quite. The .mov files look fine in QT Player and FCP, but just aren''t importing into Avid as clean as we'd like.

We've tried re-exporting out of FCP as 1280x720 59.94 to a new .mov file, but the import into Avid looks soft and washed out - with both RGB and 709 color space chosen - AND the quasi-combing issue doesn't seem to be corrected

How should I deal with source footage that is 960x720 progressive at 24 fps into a 720/60 Avid project?

Furthermore, for this same project we'll be getting media out of FCP that was originated at 720/30PN - How should i have them export edited soundbites for us to use in the 720/60 Avid project?

Thanks in advance - I've been doing tests and looking for documentation, but I can't information specific to these situations...

Why not import into a 720p/23.976 project and then open that bin in your 720p/59.94 project?

One of the first things we tried was opening in a 24p project, to no avail. Thanks for suggesting that, but it doesn't seem to do the trick.

I'm convinced it has more to do with the native DVCPro codec being 960x720 and converting that to full raster 1280x720, but I'll admit I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the possible frame rate/resolution/ codec conversions.

Re: DVCProHD Import Issues (FPC to MC)

Hmmm. I would take just a few seconds of the .mov and re-encode to a new .mov with Animation settings at best at 1280x720 and import that. (That way you're not wasting time on the whole clip if it's a no go.) Do you happen to have SorensonSqueeze?

BTW, I just saw that you tried to re-export from FCP (eliminating the need to use Sorenson or potentially worry about a DVCProHD decoder) , but you didn't mention what settings you used. Animation at best has been a winner for me when moving files between FCP and Avid.
