Hi folks,
I have a speeded up video of downtown pedestrian traffic. On top of that video I have a greenscreen effect of a businessman looking at the camera. I want to create an effect in which the businessman seems to appear with blurring speed (out of the speeding crowd) and stop front and center, looking into the camera in normal speed.
I know about the chroma key effect, but which effect would help me do the blurring speed effect? Any thoughts out there?
Timewarp is the effect you want. You can find tutorials on how to use it here.

Thanks Larry. I just looked at the beginning of those tutorials and I can't wait to get into them. They look really good.
But I want to modify my question: the effect I'm looking for is going to be about one second in duration and it should duplicate the blur of the pedestrians behind him. So, the businessman should blur from left to right and stand at his position (looking at the camera) -- all within about a second.
I'm pretty sure the blur effect cannot be nested inside the timewarp effect, so I believe you'll need to create the chromakey/timewarp composite first, then do a video mixdown of that and apply an animatte effect to the businessman, with the blur added there and using the tracking controls to move the blur with his movement. There is a tutorial on tracking here.
Thanks Larry. I'm going through the tutorial now, but I see that Avid isn't allowing me to add the TIMEWARP effect to the SPECTRAMATTE effect I've used. I've tried using regular chromakey but Spectramatte works better. However, neither effect when pressing "alt" allows me to add TIMEWARP.

Hi crooner, you need to apply the Spectrammate after the timewarp.
Good thinking....you know, do you ever feel like you have to start thinking, "hmmm, now how do I fool Avid into allowing this move...?"
