Hello Folks, I'm new to the Avid community. I'm converting over the next 5 months from a Final Cut system with 3 seats on an Xsan to 3 Symphony Nitris DX and a Media Composer on Isis with Interplay throught the building. The work stations are HP xw8600 with 4G ram. I work at a Local TV Station in the production dept. My first question as an Avid user if any one can help is. I use After Effects everyday, is there a way to preview After Effects (Comps) on my Production Monitor via my Nitris DX break out box (Is there a driver or something) or do I need to purchase a seperate video card? Thanks For any advice!

you are looking for the After Effects EMP plug in. can be found on your Avid MC program DVD.

 I found the After Effects EMP Installer. But there was only a wordpad document and no folder to install? Any thoughts? My Symphony disk is 3.0?

Ups - Rob is right:

The answer depends on the following conditions:

1. If you use a Mojo (Classic/SDI) or Adrenaline, the Avid After Effects EMP still works.  The EMP was designed to work with DNA hardware by way of the Avid DIO Runtime (software and drivers used to control the DNA hardware).
2. If you have a Mojo DX or Nitris DX, the Avid After Effects EMP will not work.  As you may notice, there is no Avid DIO Runtime software installed when running Mojo DX or Nitris DX.
3. If you are running Avid software only (no hardware at all), Avid After Effects EMP will not work.  As stated in condition 1. you will need to have a DNA device (Mojo, Adrenaline, etc.) attached to utilize the Avid After Effects EMP.

When installing Avid Media Composer 3.0, Avid DIO Runtime is automatically installed as long as:

1. You are on a Windows OS
2. You have a DNA device connected

PLEASE NOTE: Symphony Nitris Classic and Symphony Nitris DX do not and have never supported the EMP plug in (because of the DIO)
