Geoffs:...is it just me or is the search function on Apple's website comepletely useless?
No, it's not just you. I find it very frustrating as well, ESPECIALLY the fact that they never include older QT versions for download - only the most recent one.

It's nearly as bad as my spelling!
I called tech support at Apple today, and spoke with one of the techs. He informed me that 7.6.8 was only made for the Apple platform, not for Windows. If that is true, what did the developers use to write the code for 5.5.1 for PC?

Not true. You can download QT 7.6.8 for Windows from here.
thank you so much for this thread. I found myself on a mac based nitris DX with only quicktime10 running. They really should call that one 'Quicktime Light', as there's really nothing there for pro users.
Hi everyone. I'm running the latest version of Media Composer 7 on my Maverick operating system (it works thankfully, although it did say install failed). I'm having all sorts of issues previewing files using certain codecs like DNxHD and cineform. I'm going to reinstall Quicktime. I was wondering what the best version for quicktime is. Will MC have issues with me reinstalling quicktime.
Thanks
There is no version of MC supported on OS 10.9 Mavericks yet, so not sure.
There is a version of QuickTime 7 that we use in order to access the QT Pro export features. Haven't heard if that is supported on Mavericks or not.
