    Cool Transitions

Going to be working on a MTV style show in the new year, with lots of fancey transitions.  Thinking of purchasing Media composer with Avid Studio Toolkit, and using Avid FX to create these fancy transitions.

Few things concern me thougth, after reading Jake Giossi's review for Avid Studio Toolkit: http://www.videoguys.com/jakegiossi.html

First, it's sounds like there is a lack of tutorials available for the latest version of Avid FX.  Haven't used Avid FX before, and usually use tutorials when learning how to use new software.  Is the Avid FX book available in the avid store up to date?

Also, the review says that a lot of what is available with avid fx is already included with the latest Media Composer.  Should I even bother with the Avid Studio Toolkit?

    Thanks!

MC includes Boris Continuum Complete. Plenty of transitions. Don't need Toolkit.

Just to throw another hat into the ring...

Prodad are about to release a plugin that has around 500 transition/filter templates.

I'm currently beta-testing it and it should provide a good alternative to some of the other much more expensive plugins on the market that have a lot of the same effects (i.e. blur, defocus, glow, sparkles, light rays etc...).

The Title transitions are especially coooooooooool.

We use Heroglyph on 1 of our editing workstation, I find it interesting, in particular for it's "easy to use" aspect.

Yeah and Vitascene is the same.

    I use Herogylth A LOT!

Currently working on a 40x60mins Science/Entertainment programme, where a lot of written information flashes across the screen.  Fading and sliding titles on screen soon gets a little old, and Heroglth has been a god-send to be honest.

Mind you, its not unusual for me to stack Titletool/Marquee/Heroglyth effects on top of each other!

    Horses for courses...

Long time have passed on this post, but just wanted to drop this line here, maybe someone is still in need of some cool transitions in 2020's editing trends. Check this website https://fxsyndrome.io
