Keyboard shortcuts using incorrect keys without modifiers on non-QWERTY layout

Hey everyone! Just started picking up Media Composer, but have been running into some issues with keyboard shortcuts. I use Colemak-DH as my normal layout, which is installed system-wide under /Library/Keyboard Layouts. When I want to use commands without modifiers (e.g., J, K, and L for playback), I have to use the keys as if I was using a QWERTY layout: I press the keys labeled J, K, and L. However, when using modifier keys (e.g., Cmd-J and Cmd-K to resize tracks), I have to use the keys as they are in Colemak-DH: I press the keys labeled Y and N. I'm using the default MC English (United States) keyboard setting.

I'm not sure what could be causing this disconnect, as I haven't had issues like this in other NLEs. Would love any help and am happy to provide any additional information if needed.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I do have Karabiner Elements installed to map Caps Lock to Hyper (Cmd-Opt-Ctrl-Shift).
