Greetings,
Is there any way to have Pro Tools direcly link to the audio tracks that are embedded in video files?
I'm ready to do sound work on my project, so before exporting my AAF for Pro Tools, I relinked all of the original High Quality boom/mic dialogue audio clips back into the Media Composer Sequence and I also relinked back in all of the scratch audio from the original footage files with the intent that the AAF when open in Pro Tools would just link to all those original files.
My intent for pulling in the HQ and scratch audio is to be able to make sure that the HQ audio is perfectly synced up with the scratch audio as a reference.
All the audio did relink back in correcly in Media Composer, but when I opened the AAF file in Pro Tools, Pro Tools was only able to relink to the HQ audio (Boom/mic wave files), but all the scratch audio which is actually the audio tracks contained in the raw footage video files did not relink when in Pro Tools. I was thinking this might have something to do with the scratch audio tracks being embedded in the video files so maybe Pro Tools won't be able to extract/link to those embedded tracks?
The only thinng I could think of doing is to ONLY relink the HQ audio clips and leave in all the scratch audio clips that I transcoded in Media Composer when I first made the Sequence. So essentially Pro Tools would then link to the original HQ audio and relink to the transcoded scratch audio snippets.
Thanks for any help on this :)
Why not include a mixdown in the AAF export in order to verify sync? Also, could you not consolidate the scratch tracks? That should create new audio media.
