Hello Everyone.

we are using avid system director version 24.6 and i need to create a user just to monitor the workspaces storage from the web URL. is this possible ?

 

 

I believe you make the account but don't give it access to any of the work spaces, don't add it to the System Administrators group and don't give it Can Resize rights.

We tried to create a user without adding him to any group and resize but when you access from web installers tab will only be showing!

In order to use the management web UI for your desired workflow, you will need to create a group with read-only access to all of the workspaces and also give that group 'workspace admin' access.  I just tested this in my lab and the user I added to that 'read-only' group only sees the installer tab and the workspace tab:

Of course, that user does have the ability to use manage a workspace so as long as they don't touch that they can see the total use, etc.

Thank you for sharing this helpfull info , its working fine but as you said unfortunately user can resize and edit workspace and this is critical for our case.

is it possible from nexix client software can access the workspaces but without make any changes such as resize ?

Hi Johan,

Yes, you can give the user all READ access to the workspaces and have them use the Avid NEXIS Client to monitor the storage.  In the Avid NEXIS Client, you can retrieve all of the details of mounted workspaces where you can see capacity and usage.  Hope this helps.
