When you are trying to track something you are often zoomed in. The tracker point should appear in the area you are zoomed in to, not randomly somewhere else on screen.

Once the tracker is done tracking, it should automatically return you to the beginning of the clip so that whatever you attach to the track (probably a clone or paintout of some sort), is made correctly for the tracking data to attach to. Currently if you make a shape but forget to return to the beginning of the clip your shape will be off. 

Even better, let us track from whatever position we're in so we don't have to think about returning to the start of the clip.
