    The Sharpen filter in New Blue Total FX is effective.  Easy to try it.

    The current version is significantly better than the much older versions. It will detect and remove the interlace when going from 720x480 to 1920x1080 (it willl look for this automatically). You can also look at the originals using MediaInfo (https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo) and selecting Tree mode. This will tell you if the interlace is top field or bottom field.

    Right now I'm upgrading a copy of Romeo and Juliet (high school production from 2014) from 720x480 to 1920x1080. I'm also adding a motion deblur to clean up the image. After that I'm going to do some major updates (video and audio) and then publish this alll on Youtube.
