I just went through ACSR class and wanted to set up a working training system similar to our training system used in the class so I can work on MCCUX without damaging anything on our actual system. I'm stuck trying to confirm the FQDN through hostname -f. I get the short hostname, and I can ping all my network devices.
I'm following the intall guide and this is on pg 56, Logging into CentOS the first time. I've gone through Troubleshooting the network as described in the guide and all my commands come back correct.Even though I passed the exam, putting all this into real world use has been a bit of a challenge.I don't have much of an issue working with our real system, but we don't go through setup of the servers/clulsters since AVID basically handles everything besides the day to day maintenance, and even then I usually just call them and they dial in.
When we built the test system in the class, we just did what the instructor said and it worked (mostly). But I'm setting this up from scratch so any help is appreciated.
I am using vmWare Workstation 17 to create the VMs and I got through the CentOS installation process with the AVID ISO just fine.
Is this something I need our IT department to add the names in DNS, so it's actually something I can;t do myself?
Hi Joe,
Yes you are right, the DNS records must be created for the VM and after that you need to check the DNS settings in the CentOS (/etc/resolv.conf) the DNS server must be configured as well as search groups(domains). After chanches in resolv.conf do not forget to restart coredns POD in the system namespace to apply the changes.
Hi DSavchenko geometry dash subzero,
Yes. After restarting coredns POD the changes were applied. Thanks!
