Great news……. Today, October 30, 2020, @12:00 pm EDT, Avid launched an October update of Media Composer v2020.10.
Location at Launch: The new Avid Link 2020.10 is available to customers via MyAvid Master Accounts, through the Avid Link application itself and from the Download Center.
Status of Support Plan: The ability to launch this Media Composer 2020.10 software is dependent on the status of a customer’s Upgrade and Support Plan on the date this software version is released. Media Composer 2020.10 is released on October 29th, 2020.
Please Note: As of Media Composer 2019.6, Avid will no longer include the Nvidia GPU drivers in the installation package. These drivers must be downloaded separately and can be found on the Nvidia website: Nvidia.com
Please make sure to check the Media Composer ReadMe for supported versions. Please do NOT install the 45x.x versions of the Nvidia drivers at this time.
MCDEV-11537. If you intend to use full-frame stereoscopic with an Avid Artist DNxIQ, you may want to remain with Media Composer v2018.12.x until the issues with Stereoscopic support are resolved in a future version.
Changed in Media Composer v2020.10
For details on new features, see the What’s New v2020.10 document.
The following are new for Media Composer v2020.10
ProRes RAW
Media Composer supports linking and playback of ProRes RAW media using the UME plug-in. Exporting ProRes RAW is not supported.
IMPORTANT:
What’s Fixed in 2020.10: The following has been fixed.
Photoshop PSD files are not supported for AMA linking if QuickTime is not installed. Some fonts, by their design, are available only in Bold. On the Mac system, it can happen that selecting a font does not produce any visual changes. Try selecting “Bold.” If you launch a project and receive an “Enable 3rd Party Emulation” warning, even if you select Enable in the warning dialog, you should also perform the following: Select File > Settings and click the Project tab. Click General Settings and select “Enable Bin Sharing on 3rd party storage emulating Avid NEXIS/ISIS.

Hi,
I have installed Nvidia 456.43 driver (RTX4000) and everything works correct.

Hi!

mean?
This means that if your support plan expired say 10/29/2020, then the last version you could use is 2020.10 unless you renew the plan within the 30 day grace period. If we come out with 2020.12 in December as planned then you would not be able to use that version.

Thank you for the quick answer Marianna
So if it is related to the support plan, and we don't have one, we will be able to use later versions anyway if we upgrade anyway, correct?
You could only if you crossgraded to a subscription. Reinstatements of perpetuals stiopped last year and we honoired then if the channel had stock but last I checked they were all gone. So the only option is to crossgrade and then you can use the newer software. If you dont then you remain at the last version accessible before the plan expired. Do you recall how long ago you expired? You can also email me that info and your System ID.
I'm sending you an email :)
I can't get any type of file to play. I even created a new project on a different drive. No luck.
Everything worked fine under the previous version. (2018.12?) (it was a 2018 version, but i don't remember the iteration)
Are you unable to link the media in? or does it link but not play?
And as asked what is the media (use mediainfo app to find the codec and wrapper)

One of the things you need to do going from 2018.x to 2020.x is create new user settings. I can't guarantee that's what's causing your current problem, but make a new user and see if that helps.
I was mistaken about the new test project. The new project plays media that was linked in the old project just fine (the play/record windows in composer just weren't showing properly.)
The old real project will not play the media that it is still linked with, nor will it play any new linked media of any type (other than audio). The media is Apple ProRes 4444 24fps, 1.59gb/sec, 4096x3112 (this plays in the test project, but not the old real one)
Linking any video or still media of any type will not play in the old real project, but audio links fine.
Just created a new user. Some clips show up in the monitor but still say 'can't access AMA Media Stream plug in to play this clip" and won't actually play. But it will now link to new media that plays fine (including things that are already in the timeline) but it won't "relink" to the existing linked media so the pre-existing timeline is still unplayable.
Video format for an originally linked clip shows up as "H.264(NTSC)" and for that same clip linked again (not relinked) shows up as "H.264" (without the parenthesis and NTSC) I don't know if that helps.

What are the system specs of the system with the clips that are not AMA linking?
PROBLEM SOLVED!
So i relinked one clip to "video of any format" "media from any project" and all the rest of the video clips came readable (not the audio clips, just the video clips). So it's not a full win, but it's pretty good. I guess it doesn't recognize itself to be its same project, or it is considering the video another format and there is no selection for relinking audio clips. BTW, if there is truly no way of relinking Linked audio, that is going to cause people some really serious problems. Fortunately for me, I'm conforming video to a single uncut audio track, so it will be easy for me to replace it.
