    Webservice slowness depending on user rights

    Hello,

    We have an integration that mirrors the interplay content into another system.
    The interplay structure is as follows:

    Projects

    Product 1
    Product 2
    ...

    Only we do not want to import all products. Therefore, the method that was chosen is to give the user that accesses the API, permission to see only the necessary product(s).

    In this case, we start experiencing some slowness on the API and the response time increase significantly.
    The method we ran our tests on is GetFileDetails:

    1) When user rights are on Projects folder

    2) When user rights are on Product folder

     

    What could be the reason for such slowness? How to investigate?

    Unfortunately the developer that owns Interplay Web Services is out of the office until 7/27 so there may be a delay in getting you an answer.

    Hi Jonathan,

    We have tried to reproduce the behavior using your steps in our local lab and do not see any significant slowness with both permission set on project or product level.

    This behavior maybe caused by multiple reasons, some of them:

    1. Some extra configuration on your side that we are missing to reproduce this behavior. If you have staging/sandbox environment try to reproduce it there and see what extra prereqisites might be needed.

    2. Database issues, try to create a new user, run DB maintenance tools

    3. Software/hardware issues, try to install another IPWS instance.

    For further analysis we would need logs captured from both IPWS and PAM engine for the time of the issue. Please continue using the Avid CS case you have to provide them.
