    OpenIO_NDI vs DX Nitris

    Hello,

I have a case that I want to stream using Open IO NDI video from Media Composer to someone on my local network in another room.

But, unfortunately, the option become available only when I turn off my DX Nitrs from the Device Manager.

While i do it by button HW/SW Enable/Disable there is no NDI option.

Is there any way to do some ready present in the settings in MC so that the turn off DX does not have to restart the entire computer?

As far as I know you can only switch between NDI or Nitris - you can't have them both. If you want to stream to local network to do social distancing because of corona, try to stream using "Open Broadcaster Software" (OBS). You can also install a NDI Plugin in OBS and stream to a NDI-monitor in your LAN. OBS can capture your Avid window or parts of your Avid screen if you like.

Additionally Avid streams via NDI without re-encoding. This will stress your LAN with high datarates beeing transfered.

    Re: OpenIO_NDI vs DX Nitris

the problem is that I can't switch ...

I don't want to have both of them because I read that I can't, the problem is that when I just turn off the nitris, I have the nitris off and nothing more

NDI options and NDI itself works as soon as I disable Nitris definitively from the Windows Device Manager ...

but after a complete reboot, which is very bothersome.

And NDI is very useful for remote live pre-release review ... which is becoming very popular in my company.

I think I have to report it to support, because unfortunately nobody got interested in my post ...

With the Nitris DX being EOL, I doubt the drivers have been updated to recognize the Open NDI option. The DX has a specific driver, unlike all other modern Open I/O's.

    Hello Job ter Burg,

    Thank you for your answer.

You are indeed right! Thank you very much.

I checked it on DNxIO, DNxIQ, AJA LHe, AHA LHi and it's OK, I can choose the device.

Do you think that I should report it to the support team as a future request and they will do something about it, maybe they will add this function to Nitris DX, because I have 6 such Nitris, which are still great!

Again, Nitris DX is End-Of-Life, so I would estimate the chances of its drivers being worked on any longer are close to zero. I don't have any inside information, just an educated guess.

    Re: OpenIO_NDI vs DX Nitris

what i can add, is that i don't have to restart my whole computer to disable my mojo DX.

I'm suprised that you should have to restart whole machine. maybe this can be altered.

I think the OP manages to deactivate it, but as long as the DX is present on the system, the NDI option does not show up.
