    HDMI output question

    Hey,

I just upgraded to the DNXiQ from Nitris DX and set it up today. My question. With the Nitris DX, I was using 3 computer montiors, and using the 3rd for fullscreen playback, using the HDMI output. And it worked fine. I just had to downconvert in the Video Output settings to get it right.

Now, when I take the HDMI output and plug it into the 3rd monitor, it's not working. I'm getting no signal. Do I need a special HDMI cable ? Or is there something I'm not doing correctly?

    The 3rd monitor is:

NEC PA243W-BK 24.1" Wide Gamut IPS LED Monitor with Integrated Speakers, 1920x1200, Black

    Thanks

    Rob,

The DNxIQ should be able to output a format that's compatible with your monitor, but you should see exactly what format is being outputted.  You can check this in the Desktop Video control panel.  The output HDMI format will be shown on the main page.

If it's not outputting an acceptable format, you can downconvert using the Video Output setting in Media Composer.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    Re: HDMI output question

    Hey Jeremy,

No luck. I still get the message on the screen "HDMI No Signal" Digital Long Cable.

I tried converting the signal through the Black Magic SDI HDMI, and that was working, but becuase the converted HDMI gets no sync, the playback isn't the best. So I can't use that.

    Not sure what to do.

If you are set to 23/24 fps project format, check if you are set to true progressive. Most computer monitors do not understand PsF.

    Hi Dom,

no luck. Even when I cross convert, I get the message

    HDMI out of Range

    27.0lhz/24.0Hz

I do remember with the Nitris, I was able downconvert the HDMI signal. Maybe I'm not doing it correct with the Desktop Video Setup.

Looking at the picture, are you using a long HDMI cable?

Have you tested it with a shorter set just for verification?

    Re: HDMI output question

I did order one that's coming tomorrow. I'll try that.

I need to figure how to downconvert the current singal. I don't see that in my Video Output settings anymore.

    Re: HDMI output question

If you open the BM Desktop Video app, there is a section to downconvert HD to SD. In Single SDI mode, SDI ports C and D become proportional downconvert of ports A and B.

For example, 1080i/59.94 signal becomes SD/29.97.

    Re: HDMI output question

    Hi Dom,

I got it to work. You pointed me in the right direction and I pretty much clicked on every tab until someting worked.

In the end, my output conversion is set to 1080p 59.94.

Thanks all for helping, as always!
