Media Composer 2018.12.10 Available Today 28 Jan 2020

Today, January 28,2020 at 12:00 noon ET, we launched Media Composer (2018.12.10).  This is available on the Download Center.

ReadMe: ReadMe can be found on the Media Composer 2018 Documentation page  IMPORTANT INSTALLER INFO (Windows) Both a full installer and a patch installer are provided for Media Composer v2018.12.10.  To use the patch, you must have v2018.12.3 already installed. Then use the 2018.12.10 patch to update to v2018.12.10.

    What’s fixed in 2018.12.10:

    The following has been fixed.

    • Bug Number: MCCET-3449. You might have experienced issues when working with Dynamic
Relink and relinking between high and proxy resolutions. In some instances, the resolution did not successfully update to the requested resolution.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3398. In some instances, working with the Stabilize effect resulted in an
      “Access Violation” error.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3079. If Run Length Endcoded (RLE) was enabled in the Import
Settings (Image tab) imported graphics displayed WRONG FORMAT.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3289. Using the Find Script button might have highlighted an entire
selection in the script rather than just the line with the script marker on it.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3419. If Dupe Detection was enabled, you might have received an
“Exception: CORE_SEGMENT_NOT_FOUND” error when moving the audio clip to another audio track using the Segment tool.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3071. Intermittently, Media Composer would hang when you exited the
application. This is fixed with NVIDIA driver v441.28.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3332. AAF exports from Media Composer v2018.12.8 and v2019.9 did
      not import into Pro Tools.
    • Bug Number: MCCET-3262. In some instances, when loading media that had been transcoded
using Distributed Processing transcode into the Source monitor, Media Composer crashed

I have probably missed a FAQ (sorry), but just to be sure....

I see there's a patch Win version (from 18.12.3) & I'm on 18.12.7: should I revert to 18.12.3 first, or will the 18.12.10 patch be happy to overwrite 18.12.7 ?

The patch would not work for me over my 18.12.9 (full install).  So I uninstalled that used the 2018.12.10 full installer as the quicker option.

There is indeed something undocumented going on with the patch versions. The patches do not install on top of eachother. The patch installer needs to see a 2018.12.3 install to allow itself to run. So previously pathed MC's (and who didn't patch his since .3?) can't be patched without uninstalling the previous patch.

Because of this practically it makes little difference to uninstall the whole 2018.12.x version and use the full installer.

"Bug Number: MCCET-3071. Intermittently, Media Composer would hang when you exited the

Does this mean the v441.28 driver should be used instead of 411.95 which is included in the Program Files \ Utilities folder of the 18.12.10 installer. We are running 18.12.8 on a few of our systems and noticing the intermittent hanging on exit.

    Hi Lachie,

Nvidia driver v441.28 should be used MC matrix.

    Lachie-VC:
411.95 which is included in the Program Files \ Utilities folder of the 18.12.10 installer.

I'm checking this with MC dev team. From what I know the installer is no longer included in the folder or it should be what the matrix is listed.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ralph

Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated.

FYI I just unzipped the 18.12.10 installer and the 411.95 nVidia installer is in the utilities \ nVidia folder.  Cheers Lachie

    Lachie-VC:
the 411.95 nVidia installer is in the utilities \ nVidia folder.

Can confirm that on a new out of the box HP z4 with MC 2018.12.10 being the first installed on this system. On another 3 Z4's where we installed 2019.12 the nVidia folder is not present.

I guess that clarifies the practical result of the 'nVidia drivers no longer included' info.
